About the event
Experience the operatic and choreographic enhancement of dramatic scenes that tell a similar story and gain an appreciation of the opera and ballet composer’s genius, as he adds the wonderful dimension of the power of music to the drama at hand. Film examples include “Romeo and Juliet” by Zeffirelli, “Camille” starring Greta Garbo and “A Tale of Two Cities” with Ronald Coleman. Compare the films to Gounod’s Opera and Prokofiev’s Ballet, Verdi’s “La Traviata” and Giordani’s “Andrea Chenier," among others.
Similar Dramatic Scenes in Film, Opera & Ballet is offered as part of Opera at Florham's Outreach and Education series. The program is FREE but please register with the Madison Library.
