About the event

This Opera Talk with music educator Lou Barrella will highlight the sacred and secular ways that “La Festa di San Giuseppe” is celebrated in Sicily. View simple and elaborate St. Joseph’s tables and sample the food (zeppoles - a traditional dessert at the feast of St. Joseph!) that makes the day so special. Hear an excerpt from Mascagni’s “Cavalleria Rusticana” and the voices of 3 Sicilian tenors, Di Stefano, Alagna and Giordani. The music covers the sublime to the ridiculous; and the philosophical and humorous poetry expresses the individuality of the Sicilian language. Breathtaking pictures capture the scenic beauty of the land and endearing spirit of the people.

This Opera Talk presentation is free but registration is required. This Opera Talk has moved to the FDU Science Building due to the large attendance. FDU map and directions.
