We regret having to cancel the 2020 Vocal Competition due to the pandemic. The 2021 Competition will take place on May 23, 2021. Tickets will go on sale later this year.


Extraordinary young singers pursuing careers as vocal artists compete for prizes totaling $10,000 in this final round of the 32nd Annual Vocal Competition & Musicale honoring Violetta DuPont. The public is invited to watch 8 to 12 finalists demonstrate exceptional talent in the operatic art form before a celebrated collection of jurists, accompanied on piano by Artistic Director, Mary Pinto.

Opera singers compete in preliminaries in New York City hosted by the Gerda Lissner Foundation. Contestants may obtain the 2021 application here in January 2021. Questions should be addressed to gerdalissner@aol.com.


Tickets for the 2021 Vocal Competition will go on sale later in 2020.

Of 108 vocalists competing at preliminaries in New York City, eleven finalists were selected for the 31st Annual Vocal Competition honoring Violetta Dupont on May 5, 2019. The $5000 first prize was granted to Alexandra Razskazoff, soprano. 2nd place winner Joshua Sanders, tenor, was awarded $3,000. 3rd place Jongwon Han, bass baritone, was awarded $1,500. The other finalists each received a $250 Encouragement Award.
